Jonathan Sabarre, Director of Marketing and Communications, Newcastle University

Jonathan Sabarre is the Director of Marketing & Communications at Newcastle University, leading an award-winning team of over 100 professionals across marketing, digital campaigns, and strategic communications. Since joining in 2019, he has spearheaded the University’s global marketing efforts; developing campaigns and partnerships that engage international audiences and boost its reputation among the top 150 universities worldwide, as recognised by Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

Originally from Australia, Jonathan’s passion for marketing and cutting-edge technology has driven successful global strategies across Hospitality, Entertainment, and Higher Education. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Chair of the Russell Group Marketing & Student Recruitment Forum, part of the Global Thought Leadership team at CASE, and a member of the Global Advisory Board for QS.

An accomplished keynote speaker, he has presented to more than 10,000 attendees on international stages including HubSpot, Times Higher Education, and QS. Beyond his professional work, Jonathan serves as a Board Trustee and adviser for several charitable organisations. He holds an MBA focusing on Big Data, has published five peer-reviewed articles, and is currently completing his PhD in Health Informatics.
